Nicki Minaj Spits Fire on YMCMB Posse Cut, ‘Only’

Though Nicki Minaj only just delayed the release of her new album, The Pinkprint, she’s back this morning with a fiery single called “Only” featuring Young Money big guns, Drake and Lil Wayne.

“I never fucked Wayne / I never fucked Drake / All my life man / Fuck sake,” the Queens-born rapper spits with venom in her verse as Dr. Luke’s atypically icy production plunks ominiously in the background. It’s the sort of hot-fire rap that Nicki promised would be the focus of her new album, a step away from the “Starships” and “Super Bass” entertainer that’s dominated the past few years.

“Only” is Nicki at her dirtiest and smartest, rapping with metaphors that’d fly over other rappers’ heads while keeping the glint of a knowing wink always in her eye. “My man full / He just ate / I don’t duck nobody / But tape / Yeah that was a setup / For a punchline,” she raps. Yes. More of this.

Drake and Wayne also spend the entirey of their time rapping about Young Money’s biggest, uh, commodity with stars in their eyes (“I never fucked Nicki / Cause she got a man / But when that’s over / Then I’m first in line,” Drake drawls) throughout the posse cut, with Brown’s chorus barely registering among YMCMB’s incredibly potent star power.
