Joan Jett Played ‘Don’t Abuse Me’ With Billie Joe Armstrong Last Night

The Little Kids Rock Benefit took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on Thursday night, honoring rock greats and “supporting music education in public schools.” This year, Rocker of the Year went to punk trailblazer Joan Jett, who also performed live at the event, bringing along Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong always on hand these days to help out an early influence  for the occasion. Rather than bust out one of her (or his) classics, the two dueted on an underappreciated deep cut: the supremely catchy and righteous “Don’t Abuse Me,” from Jett’s 1980 release Bad Reputation, a rare original composition (produced by two of the Sex Pistols!) from her early catalogue.

“Was that awesome?” the ex-Blackheart asks at the end of the clip. Yeah, kinda. Watch above, and give the original some love below.
