In a flurry of tweets this morning, Alice Glass  the lead singer of electronic experimentalists Crystal Castles — announced her plans to leave the group.

“I am leaving Crystal Castles,” the “Celestica” singer wrote today. “My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others.  For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC. Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.”

As a duo, Crystal Castles released three studio albums together, including 2012’s III. There’s no word yet on any solid Glass solo project material, but if it’s anything like her frenzied, engrossing work with the grave-rave group, people will almost certainly tag along for the ride.
