Above, watch Beck serenade the Austin City Limits audience with a stirring rendition of “Blue Moon.” It’s the latest video promoting the PBS program’s landmark 40th season, following a clip of the Morning Phase artist playing “Loser” last month. The mercurial Los Angeles icon kicks off the October 4 premiere. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Jeff Tweedy‘s new family bandEric Church, and San Francisco folk-pop group Thao & the Get Down Stay Down are also slated to play.

Austin City Limits has showcased countless musicians over the past 40 years and remains the only television show to win a National Medal of Arts. PBS is airing a special celebrating the program this Friday. The Austin City Limits Festival also kicks off tomorrow, with OutKast, Eminem, the Replacements, Belle and Sebastian, and Beck at the top of the lineup.
