It looks like Apple is going to follow through on rumors that it would be drastically revamping the recently acquired Beats Music in light of plummeting music downloads. A source told The Wall Street Journal that the music giant would be folding Beats Music into iTunes, relaunching it as part of the service next year after buying Dr. Dre’s famous headphones and music streaming service this summer.
Music sales on the iTunes store have fallen almost 14 percent since the start of the year, and Apple is seemingly hoping streaming will pick up some of the slack. According to Re/code earlier this month, Apple is in talks with music labels to reduce their prices so they’ll be able to offer music streaming for less than $10 a month.
