Ryan Adams’ ‘Gimme Something Good’ Is So Nice Letterman Has Him Play Twice

Ryan Adams 'Gimme Something Good' Letterman encore

Last we saw Ryan Adams on late-night TV, he brought his new band, the Shining, to The Tonight Show for a rendition of his new album’s standout track, “Gimme Something Good.” Nearly a month later, Adams came back to the small screen for another go-round of the song on Letterman, this time showing off a lot more confidence and comfort with his backing group and the track itself — not to mention that same denim jacket he’s been wearing everywhere. The performance was so good that Letterman urged Adams and co. to do “just a little bit more,” a request that Adams obliged, starting the song over as the credits rolled.

This caps a busy week for the prolific singer-songwriter. Aside from performing four Hüsker Dü tracks with Bob Mould at a New York concert, Adams also released a series of bizarre promotional videos for his new album, Ryan Adams. Starring comedians Garry Shandling and Jeff Garlin (as well as famed producer Don Was), the shorts revolve around how much the new LP sucks, kills parakeets, inspires conversations about soup, and causes the dead to rise. Plus, it features Adams and Mould singing “Gimme Something Good” in the vein of the Muppet Animal. Enjoy those below.
