Congressman Paul Ryan Breaks Up With Rage Against the Machine

Political strategies can sink or swim based on the campaign music that candidates select for their rallies and events. Congressman Paul Ryan seems to think he doesn’t need the support of Rage Against the Machine fans though, if a recent interview with the New York Times is any indication. Two years ago, the band’s guitarist Tom Morello told Rolling Stone that Ryan — who had pubically declared his love for the band at the time — was “the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades.” In a response to the Times, more than two years later, Ryan said this:

They were never my favorite band. I hate the lyrics, but I like the sound. Led Zeppelin has always been my favorite band. Again, these urban legends get going.

Strong words from a strong man.
