One Direction’s Fourth Album Will Be Called ‘Four’ Because It Doesn’t Matter

How does a group like One Direction follow up becoming the first band in history to hit No. 1 on the charts with their first three albums, including last fall’s Midnight Memories? If you guessed “by titling their fourth album Four because they probably got tired of brainstorming and it’ll honestly just go to No. 1 anyway so why waste time,” you’d likely be right. This morning, the British stars announced on YouTube that their new album, Four, will be released just in time for the holidays on November 17 via Syco/Columbia Records. In conjunction with the news of Four‘s fourth quarter release, One Direction will also give away the album’s lead single “Fireproof” for free today via their website for 24 hours. Two of the band’s members — Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne — also share a cowriting credit on the innocuously pleasant tune.

While the title Four almost exclusively refers to the fact that it’ll be the band’s fourth album, perhaps it could also mean that one of the five 1D boys is on the chopping block after the album’s release. Place your bets while you stream “Fireproof” below.
