Before getting his haircut and attending a slew of baseball games, Jack White taped a special performance in France for La Blogotheque‘s “Take Away” series at the royal Palace of Fontainebleau outside of Paris. Minus the camera crew, it’s a completely unplugged two-song set at the chateau, which makes perfect sense given that White is a bit of a Luddite and loves all things vintage. He begins with the White Stripes’ White Blood Cells cut “The Same Boy You’ve Always Known,” wandering through the palace halls until he comes across his three backing musicians. Once they finish, he pauses, then silently leaves the spacious room. The Colin Solal Cardo-directed video then jumps to the roof, where White sits alongside fiddler Lillie Mae Rische as they play “Entitlement,” off of Lazaretto.
In other news, Libertines frontman Pete Doherty recently revealed that the two were talking about having White produce the recently reunited band’s third album, though it seems like a longshot. “Jack White says he’d like to do it,” Doherty told a French television station (via NME). “I’d love him to do it, it would be amazing, but I don’t want to get too hopeful.” Meantime, the lads are embarking on their first tour in 10 years, following a period of in-fighting and substance abuse.
