Scott Aukerman is considered somewhat of an esoteric comedy genius who also has stellar musical taste. As the creator of the IFC show Comedy Bang Bang, Aukerman gets the opportunity to book bands that other more conservative talkshows might shy away from, hence the promising slate of musical talent planned for the program’s recently announced fourth season: the National, Letterman favorites Future Islands, the Flaming Lips, “Weird Al” Yankovic, the Lonely Island, and the Vandals are all set to drop by Comedy Bang Bang this fall, as Pitchfork notes. The cable show also always finds interesting ways to utilize its guests’ talents, like last fall’s memorable Josh Homme appearance. Expect to see Wayne Coyne and “Weird Al” working outside of their comfort zones in their respective episodes. The show returns to IFC on October 17 at 11 p.m. EST.
