The Weeknd Is So Sad and Lonely in ‘King of the Fall’ Video

The weeknd king of the fall video

Total solitude seems to be the new go-to video treatment for musicians this year. Yesterday, Zola Jesus wandered around a forest by herself in the “Dangerous Days” video, and today, Toronto R&B maestro the Weeknd kicks rocks up and down the streets of his hometown for “King of the Fall.” Named after his upcoming mini-tour with Jhene Aiko and ScHoolboy Q, the man born Abel Tesfaye shuffles around the city with sadness in his eyes as he sings about the isolation and loneliness that fame brings. “Cause my life too private, my ride too private, my flight too private,” he laments, perhaps forgetting that, all things considered, private drivers and airplanes aren’t really the saddest way to travel. Oh, and out of nowhere, there’s also a part where two unknown girls make out, a GIF of which is below in case you needed to see it for yourself but didn’t feel like watching the whole video.

This week, the Weeknd also popped up on “Bang Bang” singer Ariana Grande’s new album for a “Do What U Want”-style duet called “Love Me Harder.” Seems being alone wasn’t working out all too well for him after all.
