Sharon Van Etten Dazzles ‘Letterman’ With ‘Every Time the Sun Comes Up’

Sharon Van Etten 'Every Time the Sun Comes Up' 'Letterman'

Back in 2012, an admittedly nervous Sharon Van Etten made her late-night TV debut on Fallon, cruising through the Tramp cut “Serpents” with help from the National’s Aaron Dessner. Two years and one album later, the Jersey native looks way more confident in front of the cameras, showing off a quiet power with “Every Time the Sun Comes Up” on The Late Show With David Letterman last night. Van Etten and Heather Woods-Broderick, who handles much of the harmonies on the former’s latest LP Are We There (one of SPIN‘s Best Albums of 2014 So Far) are noticeably having a good time, despite the song’s downer vibe. All in all, it proves that Sharon, with all her past successes, is still getting stronger as a performer. Check it out above.
