Bahamas Asks Tough Guys Hard Questions in ‘Stronger Than That’ Video

Bahamas Stronger Than That Video Strongest Man Bahamas is Alfie

“Strength is a relative term,” Afie Jurvanen of Bahamas tells usin the video above. “And if one man’s strength is another man’s weakness, how can we really know who the strongest man of all is?” It’s a poignant question with an obvious solution: The world’s strongest man competition. In the soulful songwriter’s new video for the modestly funky “Stronger Than That,” Jurvanen and director Nick Walker take us behind the scenes at that competition (not the real competition), exposing the muscle men’s inner-sensitivity.

“How in the hell does one heart swell, to the size of of a beast with a bark like a big kick drum?” he asks buff guy Omar Deckard sensitively. The fellas go on to compete on the tire flip, keg tossing, boulder marches, and truck pulls, as Jurvanen plays the poised interviewer opposite former wrester Ed Ferrara and actor Cazzey Cereghino. Stick around for the surprise ending. Bahamas’ third album, Bahamas is Alfie, will be out August 19 on Brushfire Records. In May we heard the debut track, “All the Time.” His previous album was 2012’s exceptional Barchords, which included favorite “Lost in the Light.”
