New Zealand’s Liam Finn released his fourth collection of power-pop fuzzbombs, The Nihilist, back in April, and now he’s emerged with a bizarre video for one of that record’s highest-strung tracks, “Burn Up the Road.” Finn and Australian songwriter Kirin Callinan star in the video, which takes place in an especially-bleak-seeming dystopian future. But rather than just sulk in the depressing cityscape, Finn decides to take part in a dramatic hyper-speed motorcycle race.
The whole clip is (cheesily) animated, apart from Finn and Callinan, but they manage to pull it all together in a way that mirrors the track’s rough edges, even if the whole video is done with a knowing wink. Watch the “Burn Up the Road” visual above, and pick up The Nihilist over at Yep Roc.
