Hear Lana Del Rey’s Brooding ‘Brooklyn Baby’

Lana Del Rey Brooklyn Baby Ultraviolence Stream

Between “West Coast,” “Shades of Cool,” and “Ultraviolence,” the last few weeks have given us a pretty hefty sampling of Lana Del Rey’s sophomore record. Today, she’s released the latest taste of Ultraviolence, a brooding spoof/commemoration of New York’s hippest borough called “Brooklyn Baby.”

Slinky guitar lines and synth strings underscore Del Rey’s gasped and rasped laundry list of ‘cool’ Brooklyn stereotypes. Her depiction of people with rad jazz collections and boyfriends in bands seems to somehow straddle the line between contempt and celebration.

Ultraviolence is due in full on Interscope/Polydor on June 17. Check the moody track out below.
