Bradford Cox and the Black Lips’ Jared Swilley Try to Write Funniest Song for Podcast

Deerhunter Bradford Cox Black Lips Funniest Song

The usually prolific Bradford Cox has been on a bit of a break since last year’s stripped down Deerhunter LP Monomania, but he emerged last week with a weird contribution to the sound collage podcast ROAM.

In dedication to recently deceased Mad Magazine founder Al Feldstein, this month’s episode of the podcast is comedy-themed. The ROAM crew tapped Cox, alongside the Black Lips‘ Jared Swilley and Laraaji, to share “funniest soundbites they’ve ever captured.”

Cox’s song is an absurdist spoken word piece, New Age godhead Laraaji contributed a compositions that drew on his work in his Laughter Workshops, and Swilley compiled some otherworldly found sounds. Each of their strange contributions is under two minutes.

The whole thing will definitely leave you scratching your head, but whether you’ll laugh remains to be seen. Listen to the whole episode below.
