The Beastie Boys may be effectively done, but that doesn’t stop them from pursuing extracurricular activities. Including, for Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, performing some pretty slick choreography to a sexually explicit tune on cable TV.
On last night’s season finale of Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer, one of the miscreants behind “Cooky Puss” danced back-up on a song introduced as being about “pussy.” Ad-Rock, fresh from the witness stand in a trial where fellow surviving member Michael “Mike D” Diamond said the pioneering rap group can no longer make music or tour, hit the stage to join alt-cabaret singer Bridget Everett for her orally fixated crowd-pleaser “What I Gotta Do,” which you can download from iTunes.
Ad-Rock helped midwife (let’s not think too hard about any metaphors here, please) last year’s Pound It, Everett’s debut album, and he also shows off those inimitable, somehow-suavely gawky moves in the song’s video, which you can watch below. Horovitz’s counterpart on Schumer and in the official clip is Carmine Covelli, who drums with Ad-Rock’s wife, riot grrrl legend Kathleen Hanna, in the sadly on-hold Julie Ruin and also plays in Everett’s band, the Tender Moments.
