Jurassic 5 Sample White Stripes for Comeback Single, Video
Heavy D posthumously produces "The Way We Do It," group's first track in eight years
Jurassic 5 returned for a handful of festival dates last year, but now the reunion begins in earnest. On Tuesday, the backpack-rap legends put another nail in their six-year hiatus (during which some of the crew’s members went solo), returning with the posthumously Heavy D-produced “The Way We Do It,” their first new music since 2006’s album Feedback.
The song’s built around a sample of the White Stripes’ “My Doorbell” and finds the whole collective returning to their jaunty ways. We described their 2013 Fun Fun Fun Fest set as “Yo Gabba Gabba for thirtysomethings,” and though the video accompanying the track lacks that show’s surreality, that analogy still holds true for the joy they’re able to conjure in a mere four minutes.
