Former frontman for the Walkmen Hamilton Leithauser is set to release his solo debut Black Hours on June 3 on Ribbon Music. Today he’s emerged with “I Retired,” another cut from that nocturnal, downcast album. The track centers on Leithauser’s reedy vocal take and a playful acoustic guitar march, but Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij comes through again with a handful of instrumental flourishes to give the track its full melancholic punch. “I Retired” comes along with a beautifully hand-lettered lyric video, which also stars a pensive looking Leithauser lying in repose.
