Skrillex to Jam With Members of Grateful Dead, Doors at Bonnaroo

Skrillex, Bonnaroo, superjam

This year’s Bonnaroo lineup just got a whole lot wilder with the announcement of the festival’s annual, cross-genre “Superjams.” Most mind-bogglingly, Skrillex — billed as “Skrillex and Friends” — will be taking the Manchester, Tennessee stage with Janelle Monaé, Warpaint, Chance the Rapper, Thundercat, and Zedd. Plus Damian Marley, Big Gigantic, Mickey Hart from the Grateful Dead, Robbie Krieger from the Doors, “and more.” All together now: oh my gosh.

Bonnaroo’s Superjams have become one of its most widely talked about traditions, whether it was D’Angelo making a surprise return with the Roots or members of Wu-Tang Clan, Odd Future, and the Neptunes teaming up for the first hip-hop-themed Superjam. Another of this year’s Superjams brings together Allman Brothers Band guitarist Derek Trucks with Chaka Khan, Taj Mahal, Andrew Bird, Ben Folds, and many more. The third Superjam is bluegrass-themed and will see comedian-musician Ed Helms joining forces with the Lonesome Trio, Dierks Bentley, Sarah Jarosz, Lake Street Dive, and plenty of others.

The 2014 fest takes place from June 12 to 15. Bonnaroo’s schedule came out earlier this week, so you can figure out exactly when you’ll see Kanye West, Elton John, Jack White, Frank Ocean, or any of this year’s other performers. While you’re at it, check out our 2014 festival season preview.
