See Classic Album Covers as Stunning Face Paint

face paint, album covers,

With another Record Store Day come and gone, plenty of music fans are the proud owners of new albums. But how many of us are wearing them? … On our faces? As the Quietus points out (via Dangerous Minds), professional face painter Natalie Sharp, a.k.a. the Lone Taxidermist, has honored the annual celebration of independent record stores by sharing a deeply impressive array of iconic album covers she has rendered via face paint.

Check out a sampling above — including LPs by the Talking Heads, Kraftwerk, Grizzly Bear, and more — and see below for close-ups of her takes on Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures and Primal Scream’s Screamadelica. “I decided to paint my face for Record Store Day,” she’s quoted as saying. The level of detail is amazing, and you can see more here.

Relatedly, you can revisit classic album covers in Google Street View, check out an artist’s interpretations of classic album covers as seen from the other side, and look at classic album covers minus the diseased; we think painting any of those on your face still hasn’t been tried yet.
