White Hinterland wowed us in January with “Ring the Bell,” a poppy and heady wonder of a track hailing from her four-years-in-the-making April 1 album Baby. Now Stereogum has premiered that 10-song set’s titular track, which similarly finds Casey Dienel’s powerful voice coming through in melismatic waves. This particular song has a darker bent, both in tone (those skittering turntable-like hits, that brooding atmosphere) and in the lyrics: “Baby go on, I hope you do / Find a partner with the patience it takes to love you.” There’s also a drowning, and a heart-wrenching finish.
