Sam Smith got his biggest stateside look yet this weekend on Louis C.K.’s episode of Saturday Night Live, and he didn’t disappoint. Smith, who has previously performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and with Disclosure on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, belted out his tender new ballad, “Stay With Me,” backed by a gospel choir. He also performed “Lay Me Down,” showcasing his creamy vocals backed by piano and cello. Smith’s debut album, In the Lonely Hour, arrives May 26 via Capitol. He follows the National on SNL, with Pharrell Williams set to perform on an April 5 episode hosted by Anna Kendrick.
