Watch New Order Debut Their First New Song Since 2005

New Order, "Drop the Guitar," new song, live

Finally, new music from New Order. The legendary synth-pop pioneers performed at Lollapalooza Chile on March 30, and, as Slicing Up Eyeballs notes, they performed a brand-new song being called “Drop the Guitar.” The bracing six-minute track marks the U.K. band’s first new material since 2005’s Waiting for the Sirens’ Call. New Order also recently played their predecessor band Joy Division’s classic songs with Iggy Pop on lead vocals. Former New Order bassist Peter Hook, who has called the current New Order “lazy” for resting on their greatest hits, may need to find a new catcall (how about “drop the guitar”?). Listen to fan footage above, and apologies in advance to the shaky visuals.
