Godspeed You! Black Emperor + Growing = Hiss Tracts

Godspeed You Black Emperor Hiss Tracts David Bryant Halo Getters

Apparently not content to make intense experimental music with their other bands, Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s David Bryant and Growing’s Kevin Doria have united to form the drone duo Hiss Tracts. As Exclaim reports, the duo has been a thing for a few years now and will unveil details about its full-length debut soon. The first taste from Hiss Tracts is “halo getters,” a creepy soundscape that would fit well in a horror movie. On that note, Godspeed projectionist Karl Lemieux put together a video for the song that centers on what appears to be an abandoned house, with manipulated film effects creating an unsettling vibe reminiscent of The Ring. The forming of Hiss Tracts continues the recent trend of post-rock musicians dabbling in side projects. First there was Eluvium and Explosions in the Sky’s Mark Smith forming Inventions, and then Slint drummer Britt Walford, Grails guitarist Zak Riles, and producer Tyler Trotter uniting under the moniker Watter. Enjoy “halo getters” above, and don’t blame us if the song shows up in your nightmares.
