Watch Bret Easton Ellis’ Short Film for Dum Dum Girls’ ‘Are You Okay’

Dum Dum Girls Bret Easton Ellis 'Are You Okay' Video Film

We always knew Bret Easton Ellis had a thing for Huey Lewis, but the American Psycho author has been expanding his musical horizons of late. There was the series of collaborations with Kanye West (the Yeezus trailer, the music of The Canyons, the podcast, that in-progress script) and now we’ve got an 11-minute music video treatment written by the man for Dum Dum Girls’ “Are You Okay” (presented by Vice and MOCAtv).

That song hails from the Los Angeles group’s inspired new album Too True, of course. Here, however, it scores a psychological thriller starring singer Dee dee Penny and actor Shiloh Fernandez (Evil Dead, United States of Tara). Hit play above to enter this eerie world brought to life by director Brewer (Alt J, Purity Ring). Also, to get another look at the wild desert mansion that appeared in Le1f’s “Hush Bb” video. Revisit Dum Dum Girls’ “Too True to Be Good” clip on your way out, and if you’re at SXSW, catch ’em at SPIN’s House of Vans day party.
