Best Coast have shaken away the sandy grit of the Southern California duo’s early singles a little more with each release, but they’ve probably never gone as far from lo-fi as in their latest video. Directed by Ryan Reichenfeld, the clip uses “binaural” audio recording technology — that means headphones put within a mock-up human head to simulate the 360-degree sounds of actually being in the room. Watch Bethany Cosentino, Bobb Bruno, and their band perform lonesome, country-streaked plaint “Baby I’m Crying,” from last year’s Fade Away mini-album — and listen to LiveAudio‘s spiffy technology — above (via Dazed). For another recent example of 360-degree sound, plus interactive visuals, see Beck’s cover of David Bowie’s “Sound and Vision.”
