Back in December, Angel Haze released the song “A Tribe Called Red” just days before leaking her debut album Dirty Gold as a “fuck you” to her label. And now, as if to commemorate the LP’s original March release date, she’s back with a spare, black-and-white video for the track — which, yes, was produced by the SXSW-showcasing Canadian crew A Tribe Called Red — emphasizing her breakneck delivery above all else. Standing in an open space that’s only adorned by LED strips on the floor, Haze gets across her message without any flourishes: “Only you can make a difference in your own life.” It’s a barebones treatment compared to her moving video for the anti-child abuse “Battle Cry,” but effective nonetheless. Check it out above.
