Oscars 2014 Online: Stream the Music, Watch the Show
Free online radio station offers endless Academy Awards music, while ABC offers a live stream
The Oscars are right around the corner and this year’s show features a whole lot of music. We’ve assembled a crack guide to the songs, soundtracks, and performances of the 86th Academy Awards, but what if you want to hear some sweet statue-worthy tunes while you place your bets on the big event? Radionomy has got you covered.
This week, the nascent free music-streaming platform launched “The Oscars Station,” which compiles this 2014’s Best Song nominations, previous years’ Best Song winners, and music from films that have nabbed statues in the past (not limited to Best Picture). So far, we’ve heard selections from Pulp Fiction, The Graduate, Crazy Heart, Slumdog Millionaire, Crash, and The Fighter. Oh, and each song is paired visually with the corresponding movie poster. Highly recommended for trivia-powered drinking games.

Meanwhile, the awards will be streaming live online for the first time in history. You’ll need a WATCH ABC account to experience the pre-show, the ceremony, and the Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars broadcast in your browser or on a mobile device (there’s an app for that, by the way). While all of that is available only to verified WATCH ABC users, regular folk can get the “second screen experience” — The Oscars Backstage, which includes reportage by people from People, E! News, Good Morning America, and Bravo.
That service will include three channels streaming concurrently and a social media component dubbed Oscar Buzz to boot. Last, but perhaps most relevant to us here at SPIN, there will be embeddable video highlights from the telecast, including full clips of the slated musical performances from Pharrell, Karen O, U2, Frozen’s Idina Menzel, and others.
