Watch Prawn Play a Jazz Age Trifle in ‘Why You Always Leave a Note’ Video

prawn, why you always leave a note, video

Ridgewood, New Jersey natives Prawn and Rockford, Illinois’ Joie De Vivre recently teamed up for a split 7-inch that made its way into the world via Count Your Lucky Stars and Topshelf Records. Joie De Vivre supplied three songs for the A-side, and Prawn contributed two to the B-side, including “Why You Always Leave a Note,” a call-and-response epic that offsets its small-town sadness with starry-eyed ambition and, uh, an Arrested Development reference. The song’s new music video makes its peace with the repetition of suburban life by dropping Prawn in the middle of a ’20s-themed house party, where the Millennials are too busy posing as flappers to think about the vague heartache hanging over the room.
