Hear Julian Casablancas’ Gorillaz-Aping ‘Human Sadness’

Julian Casablancas new song human sorrow

A new song from Julian Casablancas called “Human Sorry” hit the webs today, one that’s featured in a documentary about artist Sam Adoquei, The Unseen Beauty, which is streaming now, above.

The minimalist track features Casablancas’ falsetto vocals set on top of a minimalist Gorillaz-like soundscape, which also features a melody reminiscent of A-Ha’s “Take on Me” (and not in a bad way).

Casablancas has hinted at an upcoming project titled Voidz, and is set to perform at Lollapalooza Chile and Argentina in March and April. He’ll also perform at New York City’s Governors Ball in June, both as a solo act and with the Strokes in a headlining set.

“Human Sorrow” can be heard in part in The Unseen Beauty above, and in full via the video below.

(Note: This post has been updated: a previous version inaccurately stated that the song from the score to an upcoming film called She’s Lost Control and was a collaboration with Simon Taufique. SPIN regrets the error.)
