Watch James Vincent McMorrow Scale Towering ‘Glacier’ Live
Irishman's second solo album out now through Vagrant Records
Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow recently resurfaced with Post Tropical, an alt-R&B-imbued follow-up to his folk-leaning debut album, 2011’s Early in the Morning. As SPIN recently noted in its review of Post Tropical, McMorrow’s greatest strength lies in his voice, an airy falsetto that comfortably files alongside that of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon: “[McMorrow] often begins these songs quietly around gentle keyboard chords that build and grow as he piles on the harmonies, turning virtually whispered melodies into giant crescendos with lush, wordless backdrops sung by armies of overdubbed McMorrows.” Now, the tunesmith offers a chance to watch him at work. The video above captures an intimate live performance of “Glacier,” Post Tropical’s tender penultimate track.
