Fred Armisen’s ‘Late Night’ Band Sounds Like This

Fred Armisen's 'Late Night' Band Sounds Like This

Seth Meyers officially becomes the new host of Late Night on Monday, February 24, but we already know a few details about the incoming administration. Earlier this month, the Saturday Night Live graduate shared a photo of the 8G Band, his in-house ensemble led by Portlandia star Fred Armisen (late of Trenchmouth) and featuring members of Les Savy Fav and Girls Against Boys: guitarist Seth Jabour, bassist Syd Butler, keyboardist Eli Janney, and drummer Kimberly Thompson. Now, via the NBC show’s Facebook page, we get our first taste of the crew in action. Sure, it’s only 13 seconds, but it’s enough to confirm our suspicions — 8G sound exceedingly tight and play a driven-but-drifty, bass-powered brand of terse post-punk. Hopefully that’ll mesh with whatever Kanye West has planned for his appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers
