Queens of the Stone Age Lean on ‘…Like Clockwork’ in Full ‘ACL’ Video

Queens of the Stone Age, 'Austin City Limits,' 'ACL,' live, video

“Well, as fans of music, fans of the television show, and fans of Austin in general,” Josh Homme says early on during Queens of the Stone Age’s January 4 Austin City Limits episode, “we’d like to say we’re very proud to be with you tonight, alright? So let’s have a good time.” Acknowledgments for hosts and crowd thus dispensed with, QOTSA get right down to the good-time business, precision-pummeling an 11-song, hour-long set drawn largely from last year’s ..Like Clockwork (an album that topped the charts, and did pretty well on SPIN’s 50 Best Albums of 2013, too). That record’s ample pleasures, though, come out of a certain darkness, as Homme discussed with SPIN in an interview about QOTSA’s return. Stick around to the end of the set to hear Homme roar about “The study of dying / How to do it right.” …Like Swiss clockwork.
