Mac DeMarco, in Deadpan ‘Title Track’ Video, Craves ‘A Little Bit of Pussy’

Mac DeMarco, album, title track, "A Little Bit of Pussy," video

Joking/not joking is a way of life for Mac DeMarco, but what he bills as the “title track” of his new album would obviously be a goof even if he hadn’t listed the project’s release date as 2019. Okay, kind of obviously. The 90-second song, as seen in the video above, is as spacey and slack as you might expect after the Canadian garage-pop bard’s Viceroy-lauding 2012 album 2, or his sacrilicious 2013 live album.

Except this one is about how DeMarco wants “a little bit of pussy” (“Maybe in the morning / And maybe in the evening, too”). And it comes with grainy visuals of a naked man gripping a guitar phallically. It’s not going to sway anyone one way or another about the weird and occasionally wonderful DeMarco, but wags will inevitably call it a “riot.” In a note presenting the video and track as a label-spiting leak, DeMarco writes: “Shit, what can I say? I love the fans.”

As Consequence of Sound points out, DeMarco said back in October he’d finished a new album. Now he says he has finished mixing and mastering the new full-length at New York City’s legendary Electric Ladyland. No idea if it shares the same title as this tune’s stated album home, Eddie’s Dream.
