Lily Allen Name-Checks Kurt Cobain on Chirpy ‘Air Balloon’

Lily Allen, "Air Balloon," stream, Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley

Lily Allen has shared her third single after a few years away, and it offers a third slightly different perspective on the U.K. singer. Her cover of Keane’s syrupy “Somewhere Only We Know” topped the U.K. charts upon its release last year, then she co-opted Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” dick-swinging for the “Hard Out Here” video — which got her accused of racism. BBC Radio 1 has premiered the latest song expected to appear on Allen’s upcoming third album, “Air Balloon,” and it’s breezy, percussive synth-pop with cheeky name-checks for a couple of rock legends. “I don’t like dropping names / But Kurt Cobain is all in my face / How the hell am I gonna tell him / Elvis Presley already took first base,” she coos. How, indeed? Maybe say it with Bitcoins? Listen below.
