David Lynch released his second album, The Big Dream, last year and continued his impeccable legacy of out-of-time art — an entrancing combination of shadowy enigma, curious philosophy, and wide-eyed wonder — that never fails to deliver to its devoted audience. Today, the man behind Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Nine Inch Nails’ “Came Back Haunted” video, and oh-so much more will give that LP a “Super Deluxe Edition” re-release.
The deluxe box set is delivered via Sunday Best Records and contains the following: Three CDs (the album, bonus tracks and remixes, instrumentals); a vinyl 7-inch featuring new song “Bad The John Boy” and Bastille’s “Are You Sure” remix; a large booklet; a fold-out poster; and an embossed metal keyring numbered one through 500. In the video above you can hear one of the new tracks found therein — “And Light Shines,” a darkly surging slab that finds Lynch speaking the sort of poetic and sage wisdom we’ve come to expect from him and only him (or, Special Agent Dale Cooper, speaking on his behalf).
