Broken Bells Deploy Space-Age Synths on ‘Kimmel’

broken bells, after the disco, jimmy kimmel live, holding on for life

Shins mastermind James Mercer and production virtuoso Danger Mouse will finally drop their second album as Broken Bells on February 4. Dubbed After the Disco, the fast-approaching LP comes at the end of a lengthy and (presumably) big budget promotional cycle that’s brought us bits of a sci-fi mini-movie starring Kate Mara (House of Cards, American Horror Story) and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness, Only Lovers Left Alive); a “Take Away Show” twofer; a remix from Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner; and now, an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The super-duo took the Sony Outdoor Stage on January 29 to put on a laser light show and perform a pair of highlights from their must-hear full-length: the Bee Gees-biting “Holding on for Life” and retro-futurist title track. Find the former above and the latter below, and stream After the Disco in its entirety through iTunes.
