Watch Snoopzilla and Dam-Funk Celebrate 7 Days of Funk on ‘Conan’

Snoopzilla, a.k.a. Snoop Dogg, and Dâm-Funk recently sat down with SPIN to outline the modest proposal behind their collaborative project, 7 Days of Funk. “What it means to me is the progression of funk,” Dâm said of the partnership, which just yielded a self-titled debut album. “Snoop is a funkster, too, but he’s a well-rounded artist across genres, so to work with him on this music is to further the sound. He’s beloved worldwide, so anything he says or touches or does, people respect and trust. And for this particular project, it was such a natural vibe. It wasn’t put together by labels or management — these are two brothers who came together.”

The duo showed off their effortless charisma by coming together onstage for a December 9 performance on Conan. Snoop worked the crowd and breezed through a few bars into a jewel-encrusted microphone, while a flannel-flying Dâm filled out the squelchy grooves of 7 Days‘ first single, October’s “Faden Away.” Watch the video above, read SPIN’s review of 7 Days of Funk, check out our Q&A with Snoopzilla and Dâm-Funk, and revisit Snoop’s Doggystyle days with SPIN’s recent feature, ‘Til Infinity: The 50 Best Rap Albums From 1993, Hip-Hop’s Other Greatest Year.
