Run the Jewels and DJ Qbert Pop Shots on Bleak-Banging ‘Pew Pew Pew’

Run Jewels Killer Mike El-P Pew Q-Bert Stream

Killer Mike and El-P ran the indie-rap game in 2012 with a pair of cross-pollinated solo albums, and then ran it all over again in 2013 as a proper due with Run the Jewels. Their self-titled debut LP ranked high in SPIN’s Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2013, but fans abroad will technically be able to add Run the Jewels to their 2014 list — an expanded U.K. version arrives on January 13 via Ninja Tune’s rap-oriented Big Dada imprint. We’ve already heard TV on the Radio founder Dave Sitek’s “Sea Legs” remix, and now we get a brand new track, streaming below. “Pew Pew Pew” features the maniacal scratch tactics of the legendary DJ Qbert and finds our two hosts spitting rapid-fire acerbic brags over bleak break-beats. In other words, it’s RTJ gold. Much like their holiday offering “A Christmas Fucking Miracle.”
