DJ Earworm has done it again. For the past few years, this audio-visual genius has expertly collaged together a definitive musical mashup of the preceding 12 months’ biggest hits, weaving them together in ways that seem both utterly impossible and also totally oh-right-of-course-it-all-sounds-kinda-alike. For the 2013 installment of United States of Pop, which can be seen above, he consulted Billboard’s Hot 100 songs chart to determine the 25 most successful tracks of the year. So while Taylor Swift’s “Trouble” came out at the tail end of 2012, its domination in the following months made it eligible.
