Lost Johnny Cash Album ‘Out Among the Stars’ Due in 2014

Johnny Cash 'Out Among the Stars' Lost Album

On March 25, we’ll get a never-before-heard Johnny Cash album culled from early ’80s sessions with Country Music Hall of Famer Bill Sherrill. In the clip above, John Carter Cash explains that he found his father’s lost recordings with the Nashville-based producer while combing through the family archives. Dubbed Out Among the Stars, the album will arrive via Columbia/Legacy and contain 12 songs (plus a digital bonus cut).

“They never threw anything away,” the younger Cash told the Associated Press of his parents. June Carter Cash appears on two of the unearthed songs, which also include a cameo from Waylon Jennings. “They kept everything in their lives. They had an archive that had everything in it from the original audio tapes from The Johnny Cash Show to random things like a camel saddle, a gift from the prince of Saudi Arabia.”

Out Among the Stars is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon now. Hear a bit of “She Used to Love Me a Lot” above, and peruse the entire track list below.
