Lana Del Rey Prays to John Wayne in Skimpy ‘Tropico’ Teaser

Lana Del Rey, 'Tropico,' teaser, John Wayne

Lana Del Rey has a new teaser video, pilgrim. The short for the Born to Die singer’s upcoming Tropico film features a veiled, prayerful Lana Del Rey repeating, “Dear John, forgive us our sings,” backed by strings, until a cowboy figure reminiscent of actor John Wayne appears. The clip is only 12 seconds long, though, and not especially high-resolution at that, so you’ll have to make of this sampler what you will.

Tropico, which the “Video Games” maker has referred to as “the farewell project,” is “coming soon,” according to the YouTube video description. Del Rey has previously teased the film project with images evoking the Virgin Mary, Adam and Eve, and that famous snake from the Garden of Eden. She has also said the film will premiere in New York City (somewhere) and at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Walt Whitman references have also loomed large in her recent public utterances, including the Tropico song title “Body Electric,” which doesn’t bring up the Duke, but does mention Elvis and Marilyn Monroe.

In other Del Rey news, Angel Haze recently covered her hit “Summertime Sadness.”
