Baths’ ‘Miasma Sky’ Gets Post-Dubstep Gloom in Moors Remix

Baths MOORS Miasma Sky Remix Obsidian Stream

Los Angeles producer Baths made a strong return this year with Obsidian, a darker and sleeker follow-up to his 2010 Anticon debut, Cerulean. While the summer found him on the road with the Postal Service, the fall delivers a more appropriate sparring partner in Moors. That brand new L.A. duo finds MC/actor Keith Stanfield rapping while producer HH mans the beat. Their recent “Asphyxiated” video offered a winning mix of glistening aural gloom, pensive paranoiac lyricism, and cinematic isolation, and this remix of Baths’ “Miasma Sky” is a solid companion piece. HH slows the house-addled original down in favor of post-dubstep pacing, bassy swells, minimal instrumentation, and ghostly quavers. Stanfield, freshly nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his work in Short Term 12, appears toward the end to paint a bleak scene.
