Hear Against Me! Overcome ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’ on ‘F—KMYLIFE666’

against me!, laura jane grace, FUCKMYLIFE666

Against Me! have finally shared the first proper track from their long-in-the-works sixth album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues. The Gainesville, Florida punks gave fans a sneak preview of the upcoming LP a few months back, by way of the True Trans EP, which featured acoustic renditions of new songs “True Trans Soul Rebel” and the not-so-subtly titled “F—KMYLIFE666.” Now, Against Me! have unveiled the album version of “FML666,” which features NOFX’s Fat Mike standing in for departed bassist Andrew Seward.

Despite its fatalist title, “F—KMYLIFE666” sounds like a victory. Backed by a mostly clean wave of fist-pumping anthem rock, frontwoman Laura Jane Grace proudly sings of her firsthand experience with transgender dysphoria, mentioning a silicon chest, collagen lips, and asking “Is your mother proud of your eyelashes?” In case you’re wondering, here’s the answer: “No more troubles / Free / There’s a brave new world that’s raging inside of me.”

Stream “F—KMYLIFE666” below, and head over to iTunes to pre-order Transgender Dysphoria Blues. The follow-up to 2010’s White Crosses will arrive on January 21 via Against Me!’s very own label, Total Treble Music.
