U2 Join Black Friday Pack With ‘Ordinary Love’ and ‘Breathe’ Vinyl

U2 are the latest band to announce a special release for Record Store Day’s annual Back to Black Friday event. The limited-edition 10-inch will include the recently previewed song “Ordinary Love,” which was written for the forthcoming Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. That Idris Elba-starring film hits theaters on November 29, which happens to be the same day that Black Friday falls on this year.

The RSD vinyl release will be covered by the portrait of the South African leader seen above (in full, below) painted by Irish artist Oliver Jeffers. It will also come backed with a newly recorded take on U2’s 2009 single “Breathe” dubbed the “Mandela Version.” For more on Back to Black Friday, check out SPIN’s guide to the Record Store Day rarities, plus posts on contributions from Nick Cave, Father John Misty, and Baroness.
