Watch Korn Reunite With ‘Head’ in Intimate Tour Documentary
Nü-metal OGs share 'Reconciliation' film with deluxe version of 'Paradigm Shift'
Korn return with their 11th album proper this week (October 8). Paradigm Shift made SPIN’s list of the 50 Fall Albums You’ve Gotta Hear not only because it’s the nü-metal crusaders’ first since reinventing their sound with an assist from Skrillex on The Path of Totality, but also because it’s the first in a decade to feature founding co-guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. Apropos, the new set will arrive in a deluxe edition that includes Reconciliation, a documentary film about the ax-slinger’s return to the fold following a struggle with addiction, and his religious conversion.
Above, you’ll find an excerpt from the film which documents the reunited Korn’s first show in Pennsylvania earlier this year. The 10 minutes above give us a window to the band through drummer Ray Luzier, who joined full-time in 2009. His view is equal parts fan and insider, and at one point, he endearingly says of his position at the kit behind the original members: “I got the best seat in the house.” We also see Luzier’s nearby hometown, the church where he played his first notes, and his sister’s zoo.
Spoiler alert: there will be lemurs.
As for the rest, interviews with each of Korn’s members are interspersed with performance footage. We see and hear “Blind,” “Ball Tongue,” “Chi,” “Did My Time,” and “Helmet in the Bush,” plus get a good look at frontman Jonathan Davis’ incredible, custom H.R. Giger-made microphone stand. Paradigm Shift arrives on Tuesday via Prospect Park.
