Kanye West Stumps for 30 Seconds to Mars in ‘City of Angels’ Video

Here’s where being Jared Leto must be useful: 30 Seconds to Mars’ 11-minute “City of Angels” music video features appearances by Kanye West, James Franco, Selena Gomez, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Olsen, Juliette Lewis, Alan Cumming, Corey Feldman, and many more. The short film opens with Yeezus talking about Los Angeles. Some personal touchstones for ‘Ye: Dr. Dre, Tupac, Kim (of course), low-riders, pools, and Walt Disney (again, of course).

Directed by Leto himself as “Bartholomew Cubbins,” the just-released clip collects testimonials from all of the aforementioned stars discussing their visions of L.A. Between the confessionals are snippets of 30 Seconds to Mars performing their latest Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams single, but it’s the first-person celebrity accounts that make the piece worth watching — think of it as a younger, sorta sleazier version of Paul McCartney’s Hollywood-sanctioned “Queenie Eye” video.

Hit play above to hear Kanye — who teamed with 30 Seconds on their 2010 track “Hurricane 2.0” — once again talk about fame (“I would never tell a person not to want that because it’s fucking awesome actually”), and his beautiful, dark, twisted fantasies (“The City of Angels is my paradox, my nightmares and my dreams”). Also, this: “My name is Kanye West… But, actually, I’m one of the few people whose middle name is ‘Motherfucking.'”
