Cut Copy are aiming for transcendence on their new album. Not for, like, criticspeak “transcendence,” but for the actual thing, apparently. Entitled Free Your Mind, the November 5 LP has already blessed us with the hippie-dippie titular song (plus that video starring True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgård as a half-naked cult leader), and also the Summer(s) of Love-inspired “We Are Explorers” — both of which are as soulful and wholesome as they are futuristic and danceable. Now via Stereogum comes the Melbourne band’s “Take Me Higher,” which opens with a folksy guitar figure and a moaned ohm, and soon finds the beat. Enjoy those ecstatic six-minutes below, whose keys and drum-work hark back to the Rolling Stones a might bit.
