Arctic Monkeys Finally Hit ‘Kimmel,’ Kanye West Feud Be Damned

Arctic Monkeys were supposed to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on October 9, but the Brits were bumped in favor of Kimmel’s lengthy, beefquashing sit-down with Kanye West. Instead, Alex Turner and associates dropped by the ABC talk show on October 16 to play two songs from their Mercury Prize-nominated AM LP: Oozing opener “Do I Wanna Know?” and 2012 Record Store Day single “R U Mine?” No Josh Homme cameos or Drake homages for this live show — just two cocksure, falsetto-laced takes on a pair of muscular, fuzz-filled stunners.

And the boys have every reason to feel confident, because, as the NME points out, their recently released fifth album has helped vinyl sales in the U.K. reach their highest point since 2003. So far, in 2013, more than 532,000 wax LPs have been purchased across the pond — that’s a year-on-year increase of more than 100 percent. Right now, AM ranks as the year’s second-best selling vinyl in the U.K., directly behind Daft Punk’s Essential Random Access Memories. Toast the good news by watching “Do I Wanna Know?” above and “R U Mine?” below.
